1. Does ARINC 818 specify a physical layer?
A. No, it is an 8B/10B encoded link that can be implemented over copper or fiber, but ARINC 818 does recommend following the recommendations of ARINC Reports 803 and 804.
2. Does ARINC 818 work with compression?
A. No, it is defined for uncompressed video only. However, an ARINC 818
video stream can be passed to JPEG2000 compression hardware as long as the
synchronization requirements for compression engine is accounted for in the
ARINC 818 receiver.
3. What Frequencies are approved for ARINC 818:
A. 1.0626Gbps (FC 1x), 1.5Gbps, 1.62Gbps, 2.125Gbps (FC 2x), 2.5Gbps,
3.1875Gbps, 4.25 (FC 4X), and 8.5 (FC 8X).
